Military tension heralds imminent confrontations in Bab Al-Mandab area

LAHJ, Feb. 05 (YPA) – Bab Al-Mandab strait, the second most important strait in the world, has been witnessing more military build-ups between the UAE, a key partner in Saudi-led coalition, and the Yemeni Islah Party.

This comes amid news confirming the arrival of four Emirati military ships earlier on the coast of Mayon Island located in the middle of the strait.

The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias on Thursday carried out a military deployment in Tor Al-Baha district in Lahj province, and established a number of military points at the entrances and exits of Tor Al-Bahah city.

The so-called “Tor al-Baha axis” of Islah Party launched the training and combat program for the year 2021 by a military parade in the areas adjacent to the Tor Al-Baha area.

The Islah Party is moving towards controlling the coastal areas of Al-Madhariba and Ras al-Ara near the Bab al-Mandab strait, after opening a recruitment camp in Al-Wazieyya area of Taiz province, which would place the Emirati forces between the jaws of pincers on the western coast.
