New military base near Bab al-Mandab Strait, sources say

TAIZ, Feb. 4 (YPA) – The second most important maritime strait around the world, Bab al-Mandab, witnessed further military build-up on Thursday, in  an indication of establishing a new base near Yemen’s west coast.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, base on local sources.

Local sources said that four foreign military ships docked on the coast of Mayyun Island, the most important island in the middle of the strait, and began to land equipment troops,

It is not yet known whose troops belonging to.

Since the start of the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen, the Island has been housing  to a military base belonging to the Emirate occupation and has a diverse missile defense system.

The new military build-up followed the end of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council delegation’s visit to Russia amid an unprecedented celebration by Russians eager to expand the region.
