Pentagon released strong signal of calm with Tehran
SANAA, Feb. 4 (YPA) – A Pentagon official said on Wednesday that the United States is not planning to send an aircraft carrier, instead of the one withdrawing from the Gulf, in what he described as a “strong signal of calm with Tehran,” as he put it.
“We announce of course the departure of the American aircraft carrier USS Nimitz from the Gulf after 9 months of deployment,” a Pentagon official said, in remarks carried by Agence France-Presse.
“The Nimitz carrier leaves the Central Command area of responsibility, which covers the entire Middle East,” said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.
