Border clashes renew between India, China

NEW DELHI, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The clashes between the Indian and Chinese forces renewed on Monday at the disputed borders of the two countries in the Himalayas, in a new development that left wounded on both sides.

This comes after six months of battles in which there were deaths.

Military sources and Indian media reported that the clashes took place last week at the mountain pass of Nako in the state of Sikkim (northeast).

For its part, “India Today” newspaper said that India had responded to an attempt by Chinese soldiers to infiltrate across the border in Sikkim province in northern India, which led to a clash.

The newspaper pointed out that four 4 Indian soldiers and 20 Chinese soldiers were injured in the clash, which took place in a rugged and very cold area.

The Indo-Chinese border has been cautiously calm for decades, as the two countries held a ninth round of military talks recently, in an attempt to defuse tensions.
