Storm Mekunu leaves 19 missing in Socotra Island

SOCOTRA, May 25 (YPA) – Nineteen people were missing and more than seven boats capsized as flooding swept away several villages in the two days of tropical storm of Mekunu on the island of Socotra, according to authorities.

Seven cars swept away due to the  floods.

The authorities said that 70 percent of the Island’s archipelago has been filled with floods and that make it impossible to reach it.

  The storm also displaced more than 2600 families.
