China imposes sanctions on US Secretary of State

SANAA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – China has imposed sanctions on 28 US officials, including the former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The Chinese government said in a statement: “Over the past few years, some anti-China politicians in the United States, motivated by their selfish political interests, prejudice and hatred against China and showing no consideration for the interests of the Chinese and American people, have planned and implemented a series of crazy moves that interfered in the internal affairs of our country and undermined our interests.”

“The Chinese government is firmly determined to defend the country’s national sovereignty, security and development interests,” it added.

The statement affirmed that the Chinese sanctions against the US officials, including former President Donald Trump in addition to John Bolton and Stephen Bannon, came punish them after being violated China’s sovereignty.

It explained, “These individuals and their family members are prohibited from entering the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, China, with a number of companies associated with them.
