Lowcock urges Washington to reverse plane to designate Yemen’s Ansar Allah as terrorist organization
SANAA, Jun 14 (YPA) – United Nations aid official Martin Lowcock urged Washington, on Thursday, to reverse its plane to designate Ansar Allah in Yemen as a foreign terrorist organization.
According to Reuters, Lowcock warned that this step would drag the country into “famine on a scale not seen in nearly 40 years.”
In prepared remarks for a briefing of the UN Security Council, seen by Reuters, Lowcock will tell the 15-member body that a US plan to issue licenses and exemptions to allow aid agencies to continue working will not prevent a famine in Yemen, which relies almost solely on imports.
