Coalition crimes against fishermen in Abyan will not be subject to statute of limitations: Local official

SANAA, Jan. 09 (YPA) – The First Undersecretary of Abyan province, Saleh Al-Junaidi, said on Saturday that the Saudi-led coalition crimes against fishermen in the province will not be subject to the statute of limitations.

“Warships belonging to the aggression coalition prevent fishermen off Shoqra city and in large areas of the coast of the province from fishing,” Al-Junaidi as quoted as saying by the state-run Saba News Agency.

The crimes of “the aggression coalition and its mercenaries” against fishermen included shooting at fishermen, preventing from practicing their work and arresting some of them, and confiscating boats, he explained.

He affirmed that “the aggression coalition” destroys coral reefs and pollutes the marine environment with toxic substances that lead to fish escaping from their habitats.

Al-Junaidi pointed out that these crimes are part of systematic starvation policies against fishermen in Abyan, which have affected thousands of families who depend on traditional fishing as a livelihood source.
