Agriculture Ministry seeks to advance agricultural sector to reach self-sufficiency: Deputy Minister
SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai said on Saturday that the Ministry would work according to the national vision of the country to advance the agricultural sector and achieve self-sufficiency.
During a workshop to discuss completing the priorities and requirements of Yemen’s agricultural reality in accordance with the national vision, Dr. Al-Rubai pointed out that many strategies would be prepared to promote the agricultural sector, especially grains and wheat in particular, medical materials and civil manufacturing for the year 2021.
“We welcome the work of organizations on the agricultural side, but according to what is planned and required and corresponds to the country’s needs and not according to the agendas of those organizations and those behind them,” he said.
The percentage of agricultural reclaimed land in Yemen does not equal 4 percent of the total area of the country, he added.
Dr. Al-Rubai affirmed that among the priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture in the next stage is the necessity of reclaiming agricultural lands, developing livestock, promoting the performance of the Agricultural Encouragement Fund, and automating and linking all sectors of the ministry, in addition to qualitative training for all.
