4.7 magnitude earthquake hits eastern Turkey

SANAA, Dec. 15 (YPA) – The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said that it had observed an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale in eastern Turkey.

 

The center recorded earthquakes at 00:58 on Tuesday (December 15th), local time. The epicenter was 9 kilometers deep, 46 kilometers north of the eastern Turkish city of Van.

 

There was no immediate word on the extent of destruction or injuries.

 

A devastating earthquake hit Turkey’s western coast in late October. At least 117 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured, in addition to two dead and several injured in Greece.
