UAE commander arrives at Shabwa

SHABWA, Dec. 14 (YPA) – A military commander loyal to the UAE arrived on Monday by a UAE helicopter to Balhaf gas port and facility in Yemen’s southern province of Shabwh, sources familiar with the matter told Yemen Press Agency.

A commander of the so-called “special forces and combating terrorism” in the militia of the “Southern Transition Council (STC),” Adel Ali Hadi Al-Musabi, was sent on board an Emirati military helicopter to Balhaf.

The source suggested that the UAE move came to manage the Shabwa battle after the withdrawal of the STC militia from the Abyan front to implement the military part of the “Riyadh Agreement” signed between the “STC” and the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government”, in November 2019.

The military camp run by the UAE forces in Balhaf was targeted during the past hours, with a number of mortar shells, and the Islah militants detained a military vehicle carrying 6 elements of Shabwani Elite militias were returning to the camp from Al-Rayyan area in the province, according to the sources.
