SANAA, Dec. 10 (YPA) – Ethiopian President Sahle Work Zodi called on the Ethiopians to preserve the national unity of the country, considering the violation of this unity a red line.
The president said on Wednesday, during a special ceremony for Ethiopian nationalities in Addis Ababa, that: The country needs a “red line”, when it comes to national unity and sovereignty, according to the Ethiopian News Agency.
She considered that all citizens are responsible for protecting the country from actions that aim to violate “this red line.”
The Ethiopian President urged citizens to learn from the past and preserve the sovereignty of their homeland in order to achieve a better future for their country.
She attributed the events that the Ethiopian people witnessed during the past few weeks, to extended ordeals.
The president’s statements on national unity came at a time when the effects of the armed conflict in the Ethiopian Tigray region during the past weeks have not ended, between the federal army and local authorities.
Two days ago, the Ethiopian government announced the end of military operations in the disputed Tigray.
