Protest rally in Taiz calls to release sheikh al-Shaibani

TAIZ, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Dozens of activists in Taiz organized on Thursday a protest tally to demand to release the sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Shaibani kidnapped in Yemen’s southern city of Aden.

At the rally, the protesters called on the human rights and humanitarian organizations to pressure the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia to release Al-Shaibani who has been kidnapped for a month.

Al-Shaibani was arrested and kidnapped by members of the so-called “security belt” of the STC in Mansoura district, while he was heading abroad for treatment.

The family of the elderly sheikh Al-Shaibani demanded the STC militia to reveal the fate of their father during the rally.

The STC has carried out widespread operation of arrests of citizens, especially those belonging to the northern provinces, since the control of Aden in August 2019.
