Tropical Cyclone “Sagar” threatens to hit three Yemeni provinces

SANAA, May 21 (YPA) – Satellite and specialized weather observation sites monitored the movement of the tropical storm with a low atmospheric forecast to become a new tropical storm, heading towards three southern governorates by the end of this week.

The Yemeni National Meteorological center warned on Sunday evening of a low air pressure zone in the southeast of the Arabian Sea that may develop into a tropical storm within the next 72 hours, threatening Socotra, Al-Maharah, and Hardtamout Yemeni provinces.

According to the center, the southern coastal provinces, up to the coast of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman, are expected to see heavy rains and winds as the tropical storm approaches this weekend.

The Tropical Cyclone “Sagar” derailed last Friday after it was expected to hit the coasts of Aden, Abyan and Lahj, causing mild rain and moderate winds in those provinces.
