Commander loyal to coalition survives assassination attempt
ABYAN, Nov. 18 (YPA) – A commander loyal to the Saudi-led coalition factions survived on Wednesday an assassination attempt in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan, sources said.
The source said that a convoy of the head of the so-called “security belt of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia in the province, Abd al-Latif al-Sayed, was attacked by gunmen on Tuesday evening in the city of Zinjibar, the provincial capital.
One of al-Sayed’s body guards was injured in the attack.
The source pointed out that the STC militia launched a campaign of widespread kidnappings in the province coinciding with the control of Darjaj area by Islah militants.
