Saudi Arabia designates Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist group

SANAA, Nov. 11 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has designated Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group that does not represent the Islamic approach but pursues partisan objectives contrary to this Islam.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and does not represent Islam, Council of Senior Scholars said statement on Tuesday.

“The Group is a terrorist group and [does not] represent the method of Islam, rather it blindly follows its partisan objectives that are running contrary to the guidance of our graceful religion, while taking religion as a mask to disguise its purposes in order to practice the opposite such as sedition, wreaking havoc, committing violence and terrorism,” the statement read.

According to the council, the Muslim Brotherhood’s mission is “calling for rebellion against the rulers, wreaking havoc in the states, [and] destabilizing co-existence in the country.”

The group’s only goal is “to grab the reins of power” rather than show “any care of Islamic creed,”  the council added.

The Saudi announcement came as a surprise to the Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim Brotherhood since its rise to politics in 1990.

Saudi Arabia today disavows the Brotherhood’s fatwas and expresses its disdain for terrorism after it was its military arms in Arab countries and secretly supported the group.

But what is the position of the Yemeni Islah Party of this declaration? which sees the Brotherhood as an inspirational movement for its religious and political orientations.

Al-Islah is key ally for Saudi Arabia’s main ally in the Six-Year war in Yemen, and its survival in the brotherhood’s cloak will have serious consequences
