Ro Khanna: We will stop funding the Saudi war in Yemen

SANAA, Nov. 11 (YPA) – A Democratic Congressman said that his country will stop funding the Saudi-led war in Yemen that has been raging since nearly six years.

“We will stop funding the Saudi war in Yemen,” Ro Khanna said in a tweet on Sunday.

After his party’s nomination, Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s campaign officially announced, as part of his campaign platform, that he would “end US support for the Saudi war in Yemen if elected president.”

“We will reassess our relationship with Saudi Arabia, end US support for the Saudi war in Yemen, and make sure that the US does not deny its values in order to sell weapons or buy oil,” said a statement posted on Biden’s campaign page.

In September 2019, Khanna and a group of Republican and Democratic lawmakers led a campaign to end the Saudi-led war in Yemen by banning US logistical support for coalition airstrikes in Yemen by amending the annual Defense Policy Bill.
