Azerbaijan announces liberation of 13 villages in Nagorno-Karabakh region

SANAA, Oct. 19 (YPA) – Azerbaijan’s army on Monday announced the liberation of 13 new villages in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The announcement was made on Monday on Twitter by President Ilham Aliyev, confirming that the army has retaken 13 more villages in Jabrayil, a region under Armenian occupation.

Aliyev accused Armenia of violating the temporary humanitarian ceasefire on October 18. He said they fired heavy artillery on Azerbaijani citizen settlements and positions.

For its part, the defence units of Nagorno-Karabakh province accused Azerbaijani forces of violating the ceasefire and resuming rocket and artillery shelling on the northern and southern directions of the Line of confrontations , despite the agreement of a humanitarian ceasefire.

Armed clashes broke out on the line of confrontations  between Azerbaijani and Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent areas, in the most serious escalation between the two sides in more than 20 years amid mutual accusations of starting hostilities and attracting foreign militants.
