Abdusalam welcomes prisoner deal, reveals information about Saudi prisoners held in Sanaa

SANAA, Oct. 15 (YPA) – Head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, Mohammad Abdusalam, on Thursday congratulated the Yemeni people in general and the families of the freed prisoners in particular, on the prisoner exchange deal.

“The revolutionary leadership attaches great importance to the prisoners’ file, as it is a moral, humanitarian and religious responsibility,” Abdusalam said in an interview with Al-Masirah TV channel.

Abdusalam explained that the exchange process comes in the context of ‘the long breath battle’, and that the support of the military side has an important role in this aspect.

He stated that the exchange deal included the release of Saudi and Sudanese prisoners to encourage the other party, noting that the national team made a major concession in this aspect.

Abdusalam assured the families of the rest of the prisoners that the “national team will follow this file until the last prisoner comes out of the aggression coalition prisons.”

“The national team is ready to enter into an all-for-all prisoner exchange deal, according to what was proposed in Sweden,” he stressed.

He indicated that the Saudi prisoners included in this exchange deal are only part of the Saudi prisoners, pointing out that “the presence of the Saudi prisoners is one of the strengths.”

“We offer Saudis and Sudanese while we demand our Yemeni prisoners,” Abdusalam said, adding that “these steps restore hope in building peace.”

Abdusalam expected that this process would positively affect the political file, noting that the deal is not political, but rather a humanitarian one that benefits everyone.

He appreciated the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations, calling for such humanitarian steps to continue.
