Protesters close gate of Al-Anad military base in Lahj
LAHJ, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Local protesters closed on Monday the main gate of Al-Anad military base in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
Local sources said that a number of workers and farmers burned damaged tires and trees at the gate of the military base, and prevented vehicles and troop carriers belonging to the Saudi forces from entering the base, demanding the payment of their financial dues.
The military forces have suddenly laid off the workers without paying their financial dues, according to “Al-Ayyam” news website.
In a related context, dozens of farmers claiming wages for their land areas that were taken up by the Saudi forces within the garrison of the military base joined the protesting workers.
The escalating protests at the Al-Anad base came amid military tensions between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council’s militias and militants of the so-called “legitimacy forces” affiliated with Islah Party loyal to Saudi-led coalition.
