Cereal foundation concludes tillage project in Hajjah

HAJJAH, May 18 (YPA) – The Public Foundation for Cereal Development and Production concluded on Thursday the project of plowing the agricultural lands in Bani Qais district of Hajjah province under the slogan “A hand builds and another protects.)

At the closing ceremony, Undersecretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation Ali al-Fudail stressed the importance of the role of the Foundation as a pioneer institution established under the directives of the Revolution Leader Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, and based on the decision of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee, and with a direct attention from the Supreme Political Council.

The tillage project in Bani Qais district included the plowing of about 300 hectares of agricultural land for more than 70 farmers, al-Fudail said.

He added that the foundation started its activities almost a year ago in the provinces of Jawf, Hodeidah, Hajjah, Dhamar and Ibb as a first step in achieving its objectives.

For his part, Undersecretary of Hajjah province, Mohammad al-Qaisi, that such projects implemented by the Foundation will work to reduce the cost of production of grain crops and will encourage farmers to continue to grow grans and compete in the domestic markets.

Al-Qaisi pointed out that the state attaches most importance to the farmers as an important factor in boosting the national economy and one of the important ways to achieve food security and self-sufficiency of grain crops, especially in the difficult circumstances imposed by the brutal aggression led by Saudi Arabia and its allies on Yemen.

The foundation has carried out similar projects in Mahweet province. In April, the foundation implemented a plowing project was implemented in Rojum district for an area of 24 hectares, which was preceded by organizing of a workshop for the rain areas plowing project in the provinces of Saada, Sanaa, Mahweet, Hajjah, Dhamar and Ibb, targeting 11 engineers and agricultural guides.
