STC threatens to withdraw from Riyadh negotiations

ADEN, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Sunday threatened to pull out of Saudi-sponsored Riyadh negotiations with Hadi government in a protest against Hadi’s new terms on forming a new government.

This was reported by Yemen News portal on Sunday, based on sources loyal to the STC.

This comes as Hadi included al-Maisari and Al-Jabwani  as ministers in the new line-up government.

Saudi Arabia officially has been  informed of the STC’s  refusal of the presence of Al-Maisari and al-Jabwani along with the governor of Shabwah in the coming period, Pro-STC media reported, citing sources in the STC  negotiating delegation

According to the sources, the STC delegation rejected Hadi’s monopoly on sovereign portfolios and held six ministerial portfolios.

The Riyadh negotiations were expected to see a breakthrough last week after the so-called “legitimacy” named its candidates in the new government was lifted, but recent developments indicate that the negotiations have collapsed.

The STC delegation suspended its participation in the negotiations several times before returning to the negotiations due to Saudi pressure and unfulfilled promises.
