Sanaa discusses national strategy for implementing population sustainable development goals

SANAA, Oct. 5 (YPA) – The National Population Council organized on Monday an expanded meeting in the capital Sanaa to discuss the mechanism of implementing the population goals for sustainable development.

The meeting, which was attended by 50 participants representing government agencies, civil society organizations, and planning directors in the Capital Sanaa and the provinces, reviewed the study of institutional capacities in implementing the sustainable development goals and the matrix of implementing the goals.

In the meeting, Head of the Health and Population Committee in the Parliament, Dr. Abdul-Bari Doghish, stressed the importance of the meeting to come up with recommendations to enhance the implementation of the national strategy for implementing the population goals for sustainable development.

Doghish touched upon the effects of the aggression on various sectors, especially the health sector, as well as the spread of epidemics and diseases.

Assistant Secretary General of the National Population Council Mutahar Ahmed Zabara said that the meeting comes within the framework of the council’s general secretariat efforts to develop and modernize the population policy system in implementation of the national vision for building the modern Yemeni state,

Zabara stressed the importance of proper planning and coordination between the various relevant authorities to come up with a national plan with specific goals that can contribute to the development of the population work.
