Kuwait TV cuts to Quranic verses in possible sign of Emir death

KUWAIT, Sep. 29 (YPA) – Kuwaiti television cut its regular programs on Tuesday to broadcast verses from the Qur’an, in a sign that usually indicates the death of a prominent figure from the ruling family.

The Kuwaiti television did not make any announcements from the authorities.

This comes hours after the Kuwaiti government commented on rumors about the death of the country’s Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The official spokesman for the Kuwaiti government, Tariq Al-Muzrim, called for “taking information from official sources and not paying attention to what is being raised on social media,” according to the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Qabas.

On July 23, Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, 91, left his country , heading to the United States of America, to complete the treatment he started in a hospital in the country, based on the advice of the medical staff.

The Emir of Kuwait had undergone surgery in Kuwaiti, which the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs said that it was successful.
