SANAA, Sept. 26 (YPA) – The Lebanese army announced that its forces have arrested a suspect accused of killing of four soldiers earlier this month.
The army said, in a statement, that intelligence and army units in the Hilan village pf Zgharta district in northern Lebanon on Friday arrested a man belonging to the group responsible for killing the four soldiers,
According to the statement, the man called Ahmed Samir al-Shami.
The four soldiers were killed while trying to arrest Khaled Al-Talawi, who is suspected of involvement in the killing of two security officers and the mayor’s son in the northern Lebanese town of Kafton on August 21st.
Al-Talawi fired and threw a grenade as soldiers raided his home in the Baddawi area near the coastal city of Tripoli on September 13th, killing three soldiers at the site and a fourth died of his wounds.
Al-Talawi was later shot dead, and the army said at the time that he was heading an “armed cell”.
