SANAA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – The “Hadi government and the Islah party (the Brotherhood)” residing in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, appealed to the Security Council to stop the liberation of Marib province, and save its remaining main stronghold in Yemen.
In a statement from Riyadh on Saturday night, the “Hadi government” called on “the United Nations, the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council of its affiliates to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the dangerous repercussions that the militias pose on the lives of Yemenis in Marib,” as they claim.
The statement described the battles between the army, the popular committees, the coalition forces, the Hadi militia, the Islah gathering (the Brotherhood), and the elements of “Al Qaeda” organization as “targeting the Yemeni state with all its institutions and exposing 2.5 million Yemeni citizens to imminent dangers.”
The statement cited “the safety of Marib residents and the displaced in Marib,” calling on the United Nations to “urgently pay attention to the issue.”
The statement, published by the Riyadh-based Saba News Agency, attributed the Security Council’s call for an emergency meeting on Marib, to what it called “discussing the repercussions and taking urgent measures to prevent genocide and massacres against local residents and tribes.”
Politicians have commented on the statement of the “Hadi government” that it embodies “the critical extent of the situation of the Hadi and Islah (Brotherhood) militia in Marib,” considering their exaggeration about the lives of the civilian population “a rash that views others with their bloody approach to bombing civilians, destroying homes, and torturing and executing prisoners.”
In practice, military and political leaders affiliated with the Supreme Political Council and the Salvation Government attribute the delay in the liberation of Marib since last March, to “preserving the safety of civilians, facilities, and private and public facilities, and providing the opportunity for a political settlement that avoids the repercussions of the war.”
It is noteworthy that the coalition and the “Hadi government and the Islah Party (the Brotherhood)” do not care about the lives of more than 20 million Yemenis who are threatened with death as a result of the execution of their livelihoods by continuing to detain oil derivative ships and prevent them from entering the port of Hodeidah since periods exceeded five months in detention.
