ADEN, Sept. 15 -Governor of Aden, who is affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) threatened on Tuesday to resign in a protest of being ignored by Saudi Arabia and Hadi, Yemen News Portal Reported.
According to media sources close to the STC, the governor Ahmed Lamlas told the Saudi ambassador, Mohammed al-Jaber, that he would resign in the coming hours if electricity problem is not solved in the city of Aden
He accused Hadi government of refusing to develop solutions and ignoring his demands, the sources said .
This comes amid mounting public anger as electricity services deteriorated.
According to the observers, Lamlas’s threatening comes in response to Saudi Arabia’s exclusion of the electricity sector from its projects announced two days ago to support the provinces, including investment projects such as parks and amusement cities.
Aden is experiencing mounting anger, which is threatening a new wave of protests over the collapse of the electricity system.
The governor of Aden has only been in power for a few days, but Saudi Arabia has ignored basic services, particularly electricity, and has begun marketing private projects in a move that observers have counted as an attempt to evade its commitments to the governor in order to plague the STC with service portfolio there.
