US judge orders to question 24 Saudis for involvement in 9/11 attacks

SANAA, Sept. 12 (YPA) – A US judge has ordered that 24 current and former Saudi officials, including former Saudi ambassador Prince Bandar bin Sultan, appear in court to testify their involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Judge Sarah Netburn’s decision was announced in Manhattan Federal Court in New York on Thursday.

The judge said that Saudi Arabia had made “convincing” arguments that the available documents did not indicate that Prince Bandar bin Sultan was running the business of the two defendants in the case, but that he may have owned information that a Saudi official was tasked with providing diplomatic cover to those involved in the terrorist attacks.

This comes as part of the case brought by the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, September 11, 2001.

They demanded that Saudi Arabia must pay billions of dollars in compensation for damages, while Saudi Arabia rejected a similar request from the US court in March.
