SANAA, Aug. 22 (YPA) – A security source from Basra province said on Friday that angry protesters set fire to the Iraqi’s parliament office in Basra province, protesting the recent assassinations of activists.
“Angry protesters have surrounded the office of the Parliament in Basra province and set it on fire in a protest over the recent assassinations of activists in the province,” the source said.
“The security forces withdrew from the surroundings off the office building after the arrival of the demonstrators,” the source added.
Earlier, a member of the parliamentary security and defence committee, Kataa al-Rikabi, said on Friday that there were parties trying to tamper with Basra’s security through assassinations.
