SHABWAH, Aug. 20 (YPA) – A senior leader loyal to the Islah Party was killed on Thursday in an armed ambush targeting a military convoy in Shabwah, southeastern Yemen, local sources said.
According to the sources, the gunmen of the so-called “Southern Resistance”, one of the military arms of the UAE-backed faction, ambushed a military convoy in the district of Markha and managed to destroy a number of military vehicles
The sources confirmed the death of the leader of the ” Muslims Brotherhood” Ali Bahih al-Muradi and a number of his bodyguards were among the convoy heading towards Shuqrah city in Abyan province.
This coincides with the continued push for reinforcements to the front lines in Abyan.
These developments indicate that the Southern Transitional Council (STC), who is under military pressure in Abyan, is trying to distract Hadi and the Islah militants from moving the battle back to Shabwah.
