Bahraini opposition organizes sit-in in London

SANAA, Aug. 13 (YPA) – On Wednesday, the Bahraini opposition held its first field event since the Corona pandemic in London a few months ago.

The sit-in was held in front of the British Prime Minister’s Office to mark the 49th anniversary of the evacuation of British troops from the country and Bahrain’s independence.

The event was a part of a series of events announced by the United Kingdom’s Bahraini opposition bloc on the occasion.

Among them is a seminar in English to be held on Thursday (August 13th), through the zom app, in which  Dr. Ala’a Shehabi, academic and writer Marc Owen Jones, and human rights activist Maryam Al Khawaja,will participate along with a number of activists and politicians from Bahrain and the UK

A virtual symposium will be held on Friday evening (August 14th), in which prominent Bahraini dissident Dr. Saeed Al-Shehabi and political and social researcher Dr. Abdulhadi Khalaf, will speak.

It is worthy mention that Dr. Abdulhadi Khalaf was a member of Bahrain’s first post-independence constituent council, who was tasked to write the country’s constitution.
