5 Iraqi border guards killed in Turkish aggression on Erbil

SANAA, Aug. 12 (YPA) –  Five Iraqi border guards were killed in the Turkish shelling that targeted on Tuesday a gathering of Iraqi border guards north of the city of Erbil,
A correspondent for Al-Alam TV in Erbil stated that unconfirmed reports indicate the presence of the Iraqi Border Guard commander in the targeted meeting.
The Al-Alam correspondent indicated that a Turkish Air Force drone targeted a meeting this evening that included leaders from the Iraqi border guards and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to coordinate on some matters related to the border crossings and provide protection for these areas, which led to the death of five of the meeting, including the commander of the Second Brigade of the Iraqi borders Guards, Major General Muhammad Rashid, and the commander of the third regiment, Colonel Ahmed Zubair.
The channel’s correspondent confirmed that the meeting was targeted specifically in the Prados area in the Soran district, north of the city of Erbil, within the border areas with Turkey.
