SHABWAH, Aug. 9 (YPA) – The United Arab Emirates occupation (UAE) on Sunday raised its alert level on Yemen’s east coast, coinciding with a possible escalation of the Brotherhood in Shabwah, the most important oil and gas source.
Tribal sources said that a state of maximum military alert witnessed by the Balhaf facility, from which the UAE forces are based in Shabwah, explaining that the UAE forces reinforced their guard of Sudanese soldiers on the surroundings of the oil facility.
The sources pointed to the arrival of senior Emirati leaders one of them from Al Nahyan, the ruling family in Abu Dhabi along with the chief of staff of the United Arab Emirates.
The moves come at the same time as the Islah party, Yemeni Branch of Muslims Brotherhood’s planned demonstrations come amid UAE fears that the Turkish-Qatari-backed faction will succeed in resolving the province on which the UAE is counting to compensate Qatar’s gas politically.
It is also an attempt by the UAE to raise the ceiling of its demands to include Shabwah in the STC, especially as it detains the transitional delegation and prevents it from returning to Riyadh to resume negotiations with Hadi and set new conditions.
It is worth mentioning that one of the most important obstacles to the implementation of the Riyadh agreement signed last November was the commitment of the United States to the annexation of Shabwah and Socotra to its share, and has recently succeeded in annexing Socotra and aspires to acquire Shabwah within the framework of a sharing plan with Saudi Arabia for the strategic and resource-rich eastern part of Yemen.
