TAIZ, Aug. 8 (YPA) – A military commander loyal to the US-backed Saudi-led aggression coalition and “pro-Islah party” , survived an assassination attempt on Friday in Taiz province, southwestern Yemen, local sources said.
According to the sources, Brigadier General Mohammed Salem al-Kholani, commander of the military police, survived while two of his companions were killed in an ambush setup by unknown gunmen at Jabal Habashi junction.
The incident came one day after an assassination targets a military commander in the 35th Brigade, Colonel Adel al-Hammadi, in al-Ain area of the al-Mawasit district in al-Hujaria.
The al-Hujarya areas have been experiencing considerable tension between forces loyal to the Islah party and the UAE-backed 35th Armored Brigade forces.
Brigadier Al-Kholani leads the military police forces, which had been deployed in the city of al-Turbah, amid the rejection of the 35th Armored Brigade.
