Yemeni plane carrying 156 passengers survives air disaster

ADEN, July 27 (YPA) – A plane belonging to Yemeni Airlines Company, which is controlled by Saudi-led coalition, survived an air disaster on Monday after taking off from Aden International Airport.

According to media sources, the plane was heading to Cairo Airport, carrying 156 passengers, when a technical defect forced it to make an emergency landing at Jeddah Airport.

The sources added that the Yemeni company neglected the maintenance of the plane, which would endanger dozens of passengers.

The company purchased the aircraft “Socotra”, which is of Airbus A320 type, in November 2018, and it stopped flying since July 2019, after the end of its lifetime due to a failure in one of its engines and became just a “junk” telling the story of corruption in the official airline.

The plane had started operating in 2003, through “Avianca El Salvador”, and then used by three other airlines, designated for transporting horses, and got out of service after one month of its purchase date.
