Campaign to combat locust launched in Kholan district of Sanaa

SANAA, July 18 (YPA) – A field campaign was launched Saturday to combat locust in a number of areas of Kholan district in Sanaa province.

A field team specialized in locust control, headed by Director of the Desert Locust Control and Monitoring Center Adel al-Shaibani, paid a visit to the district to get acquainted with the level of implementation of the campaign.

The control works contributed greatly to limiting the locust damage and its effects on agricultural crops in those areas, especially corn, grape and almond crops, according to the team.

The team indicated that locusts in these areas are still dangerous as they are in its early stages after hatching, emphasizing the importance of continuing the campaign to control locusts at this stage and reduce their breeding.
