Saudi Arabia fails to establish ceasefire in Abyan

ABYAN, July 1 (YPA) – Saudi forces failed to establish a ceasefire in Abyan province after armed clashes renewed on Wednesday evening between militias of the so-called the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council and militants from the al-Islah party in Qarn al- Kalasi area.

Local media outlets quoted local sources as saying that armed clashes broke out between the  al-Islah militants and the STC’s  militias, in al-Taryah area near Qarn al-Kalasia.

The sources confirmed that clashes are now taking place between the parties to the conflict with various types of heavy and medium-sized weapons.

The Clashes in Abyan province between the two sides are escalating on a daily basis, despite Saudi attempts to establish an alleged truce between them by deploying their forces in the province earlier this week.
