500 women die annually in Yemen due to pregnancy complications

SANAA, June 27 (YPA) – The director of the reproductive health department at the ministry of health, Zainab al-Badawi, said on Saturday that 500 women die per 100,000 live births annually in Yemen due to pregnancy and childbirth complications.

The move came during a workshop organized by the General Department of Reproductive Health in the Population Sector in the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund for reproductive health trainers to check cases of Covid- 19.

Al-Badawi affirmed that the high rate of malnutrition among pregnant women have reached 1,100 pregnant women suffering from the malnutrition, according to United Nations’ reports.
