Tribal leaders in Mahrah, Socotra call for alliance with Sanaa forces

MAHRAH, June 20 (YPA) – Tribal leaders in Socotra and Mahrah on Saturday called for an alliance with Sanaa after the coalition’s objectives in southern and eastern Yemen were revealed.

Abboud Haboud bin Qumseet, deputy of the sit-in committee of Mahrah’s sons said that it is time for all Yemeni parties to ally with the “Houthis” to expel what he described as the “Saudi-Emirati occupation,”” adding that the goal now should be to liberate the country from external occupation.

The move came during an interview with Al-Jazeera TV .

He explained that they will eventually remain Yemenis and as long as their slogan is to defend the homeland, they should be rounded up to get Saudi Arabia and the UAE out of all Yemeni territory.

Bin Qumseet commented on the implications of the Saudi-UAE-UAE handover of Socotra Island to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militias.

For his part, Sheikh of Socotra Island, Sheikh Essa bin Yaqout, vowed to continue the resistance and work with all honorable people in Yemen to liberate the country from the Saudi-UAE occupation.
