Rocket attacks target Green Zone in central Baghdad

SANAA, June 18 (YPA) – Iraqi media reported early Thursday that the  heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad was hit by four rockets and explosions were heard.

According to The Iraqi “Afaq TV”, sirens were sounded in the area immediately after the shelling.

There were no reports of casualties or material damage.

Iraqi Twitter accounts posted pictures of security forces arriving at the launch site.

On Tuesday (June 16th), the Iraqi security media cell announced that three Katyusha rockets landed in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport without causing any casualties.

The green zone was hit by a rocket attack on June 10, when the security media cell reported that “a Katyusha rocket landed in Baghdad’s Green Zone, with no significant casualties.”
