Armed attack targets deputy director of Socotra Airport

SOCOTRA, June 16 (YPA) – Deputy director of Socotra Island Airport on Tuesday survived an armed attack by loyalists of Islah Party on the island.

Local sources on the island confirmed that the Islah militants targeted the car of First Lieutenant Nasser al-Socatri, deputy director of the airport who is loyal to the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Al-Socatri was injured as a result of his car being shot with barrage of bullets on the road between Mori and Hadibu cities, which led to its turning over.

Last week, pro-Islah tribes established armed points around the Socotra airport and one of the STC camps.
