SANAA, June (YPA) – Eighteen people were killed and 166 injured, as a liquefied natural gas tanker truck exploded in China, Chinese TV channel CGTN reported on Sunday through its Twitter page.
The channel added that the deviation of the truck from the “Shenyang-Haikou” expressway in the eastern Zhejiang Province, leaving 18 dead and 166 injured, had been taken to several local hospitals.
Earlier, 12 people were reported dead in the media, due to the accident that occurred at Saturday afternoon (local time) near Liangshan Village in Wenling City.
The official Chinese news agency “Xinhua”, quoting local authorities, said that the explosion of the tank truck caused by its deviation from the highway caused the collapse of residential houses and factory workshops in the area near the road.
Firefighters and rescuers have reached the scene to search for possible missing persons under the rubble.
