Erekat calls on Arabs to support Palestine with $100 mln monthly

RAMALLAH, June 13 (YPA) – Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, on Saturday called on the Arab countries to provide a 100 million dollars support per a month for Palestine to face the challenges.

“Palestine has succeeded in mobilizing an international coalition supporting its cause,” Erekat affirmed in an interview with “the Voice of Palestine” Radio.

Erekat said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for raising the level of representation in the Security Council meeting scheduled for the 24th of this month to be at the level of foreign ministers, not delegates.

He called on the Arab states to provide a financial security network for Palestine as an interim loan of $ 100 million per month so that “we can meet the challenges facing our cause.”

Erekat added that Palestine has asked the European Union also help to cover the fiscal deficit of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and be part of an international coalition to hold a peace conference leading to the end of the occupation, the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, resolving the issue of refugees, and the release of prisoners.
