SANAA, June 8 (YPA) – The official North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Monday that leader Kim Jong-un attended a meeting of the political bureau of the ruling Korean Workers’ Party, where economic projects, including the chemical industry, were discussed.
The agency added that the two-day meeting discussed “critical issues arising from the further development of the economy based on self-sufficiency and improving the standard of living of people.”
The agency noted that the Politburo meeting repeatedly stressed that the chemical industry is a “driving force for the national economy”, while Kim stressed “stressed the need to give top priority to increasing the capacity to produce fertilizers.”
The meeting comes at a time when the United States is tightening its pressure and siege on North Korea to stop Pyongyang’s nuclear program and discourage it from developing its weapons.
