Coronavirus cases exceed 7 million around world

SANAA, June 7 (YPA) – Number of people infected with coronavirus worldwide rose to more than seven million on Sunday as the number of cases increased in Brazil and India, Reuters Reported on Sunday.

About 30 percent of infections or 2 million cases recorded in the United States, while Latin America has the second highest infections with more than 15 percent.

The number of COVID-19 deaths is close to 400,000 globally, while the number of deaths in the United States is about 110,000, the largest in the world today.

The United States recorded about a quarter of the deaths, but victims in South America are growing at a rapid pace.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 infection in just five months is equal to that of malaria, one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases.

On 11 March, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the coronavirus COVID-19 as a global epidemic.

To date, more than 6.7 million people worldwide have been infected with the coronavirus with nearly 395,000 deaths, according to a WHO report.
