Abductees face death in STC’s prisons in Aden

ADEN, June 2 (YPA) – The Association of Mothers of Abductees in Aden, southern Yemen has on Monday called for saving the lives of those detained by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militias in Aden province, southern Yemen.

“The detainees face slow death due to power outages and reduced diets, as well as the spread of various diseases inside Bir Ahmed prison,” the association said in a statement on Monday.

The statement added that STC militias deliberately mistreat detainees, in light of the deterioration of the various basic services in the city, such as health and electricity services, the rise in temperature and the widespread spread of epidemics and diseases.

The statement pointed to reports received by the association from the families of the detainees that the detainees will carry out a full-scale hunger strike to protest the ill-treatment they receive.

The Association held the STC militias fully responsible for the lives of the detainees, calling for their immediate  release as a result of the corona outbreaks and various epidemics and diseases.

It also called on international organizations and the International Red Cross to help them and to work for the release of the detainees.
