After failure of Riyadh negotiations, Coalition tools prepare for decisive battle in Abyan

ABYAN, June 1 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) Spokesman, Nizar Haitham confirmed that once again, the coalition’s rival factions failed to reach an agreement and negotiations have not made any progress so far.

This announcement comes against the backdrop of major military mobilizations and reinforcements pushed by both sides towards Abyan province, which has been witnessing the most intense fighting between the STC and the Islah militants.

This means the intention of both sides to escalate the military and bet on the field.

Local sources confirmed that the STC sent large military reinforcements to the city of Zinjibar from the Yafei directorates, in conjunction with arrival of large reinforcements of al-Islah militants consisting of weapons, ammunition and military vehicles on the outskirts of Shoqra city coming from Shabwah province.

The two sides have pushed for further military reinforcements, coinciding with a massive mobilization and recruitment campaign by both sides, including the introduction of a new training camp near the  Qarn Alkalasi area to train those  coming from Marib, Shabwah and Abyan provinces, while the STC continues to push more recruits from Yafei and Zinjzibar to their training camps in these areas, in preparation for their upcoming battles.

Indications of military escalation began today, as the Zinjibar Road was closed after fighting renewed between the two sides, while reinforcements of the two sides continued near the lines of contact east of Zinjibar city.

According to observers, the two sides are preparing for a decisive battle in the coming days, especially after the failure of negotiations between the two sides in Riyadh and reaching a deadlock.
