SANAA, May 31 (YPA) – Syrian army received a batch of advanced and modernized Russian MiG-29 warplanes from the Russian Federation, to start on the first of next month, carrying out shifts in Syrian airspace.
The Syrian news agency “SANA” quoted on Sunday a military source as saying that it was within the framework of military and technical cooperation between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Russian Federation, and within a special ceremony held at Hmeimim base, the Russian side delivered the next batch of advanced and updated MiG-29 warplanes to the Syrian Arab Army.
The source added that “the planes that are more effective than their previous generation have carried out their flight from Hmeimim base to the areas they are stationed in the Syrian military airports, where our pilots will begin in the first of next July carrying out the rotations scheduled for these planes in the Syrian airspace.”
Russia has participated in the war on “terrorism” alongside the Syrian army since September 2015 at the request of the Syrian Arab Republic.
