STC militias besiege Islah militants’ camp in Lahj

LAHJ, May 19 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia on Monday evening surrounded one of the military brigades loyal to Islah Party in Lahj province, southern Yemen, military sources reported.

The sources confirmed that the STC militias in Tor al-Baha district led by Waddah Omar Saeed imposed a stifling siege on the so-called “the 17th Infantry Brigade” camp led by Lahj governor loyal to Islah Ahmed Turki.

This came after the STC militia demanded the governor to hand over the camp’s sites in Khor Omaira area on the coastal strip between Tor al-Baha in Lahj and Bab al-Mandab in Taiz province, the sources added.

During the past few days, the Islah party sent military reinforcements from the 4th Mountainous Infantry Brigade, while the STC militias on Saturday cut off the road between Lahj and al-Maqattera to prevent the Islah reinforcements from reaching tor al-Baha.
