Coalition accuses STC of threatening maritime security in Gulf of Aden

ADEN, May 18 (YPA) – Media sources said on Sunday that the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) has made the strongest threat to international navigation in the Gulf of Aden.

Media outlets affiliated with Saudi-led coalition quoted an official source in the coalition’s leadership as saying “the STC’s forces prevented the coast guard from performing their operational tasks.”

The source affirmed that this move represents the greatest naval threat in the Gulf of Aden.

The coalition held the STC and the warring parties in the southern province fully responsible for the navigation security in the Gulf of Aden, after funding the armed militias in Aden and the rest of the southern provinces.

A merchant ship was attacked earlier on Sunday off Mukalla port of Hadramout province, which led to damage to the ship.
